(ELKO, NV) -- Nevada mining companies are looking for your business and you may meet your match at the Elko Reverse Expo on Thursday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the newly expanded Elko Convention Center, 700 Moren Way.
The Reverse Expo is Presented by the Nevada Mining Association and co-sponsored by the Governor's Office of Economic Development and the Northeastern Nevada Regional Development Authority.
Nevada produces roughly 75 percent of the total US gold production and leads the nation in barite and gypsum production. The mining supply chain in Nevada is estimated to be worth more than $3 billion; from in-mine contractors to support and ancillary services, according to the Governor's Office of Economic Development.
The day-long event begins with presentations from Eric Kieser on how to sell yourself, your product or service quickly and effectively. A second morning workshop will be presented by Barry Campbell, Vice President of Supply Chain at Newmont Mining Corporation on how to sell yourself and your products to mine operators.
Once armed with these new skills, the Reverse Expo begins after lunch -- provided by the Red Lion Inn -- where mining operators will ring the room and you can take your newly crafted elevator speech to an audience that is looking to make a win-win connection.
"Previous Reverse Expos have resulted in contracts," said Dana Bennett, President of the Nevada Mining Association. "The benefit is that multiple vendors get an opportunity to speak directly with supply chain professionals who, in turn, can rapidly assess whether their company has an immediate need for the product or service. Welcome to speed dating in the procurement world."
Spots are full, but there will be a waiting list in case companies drop out. The Nevada Mining Association holds a similar event at its annual convention in September. To register for the Reverse Expo, log on to www.nevadamining.org and go to the events calendar. Single attendee registration is $175 for non-members of the Nevada Mining Association or $80 for members. For more information call (775) 829-2121 or the NNRDA at (775) 738-2100.
